Community Event Policy
Community Policies for Community-Hosted Events
As a 501(c)(7) (status pending) social club, our purpose is simple: to create opportunities for people to connect, build friendships, and enjoy shared experiences together. Every event promoted through our community should support that mission by providing a safe, welcoming environment where people feel comfortable participating and not diminish the Gwinnett Furs (GWF) name.
These guidelines are not intended to govern private gatherings between friends. Rather, they establish the shared expectations for events that are organized and promoted through our community. By choosing to host an event in Gwinnett Furs, hosts agree to uphold these standards and help preserve the welcoming environment that makes our organization special.
Keep It Safe and Lawful
Community-hosted events should always comply with applicable laws, venue policies, and local regulations. Hosts should also make reasonable efforts to provide an environment where attendees feel physically and socially safe.
Keep the Focus on Community
Our events exist to foster friendships, shared interests, and positive social experiences. Activities whose primary purpose is sexual in nature, or that create an environment that a reasonable person would consider sexually explicit, are not appropriate as community-hosted events.
This isn't about policing conversations, personalities, or adult humor. It's simply about keeping our events centered on what our organization exists to do: bringing people together, facilitating new friendships, and creating lasting memories.
Treat Others with Respect
Everyone comes from different backgrounds and experiences. We want our events to be places where people feel welcome, whether they're attending for the first time or have been part of the community for years.
Treat others with kindness, respect personal boundaries, and help create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable participating. Disagreements happen, but they should always be handled respectfully.
Respect the Venue
Whether you're meeting at a restaurant, park, convention, someone's home, or another venue, please respect the rules of the space and the people around you.
Being good guests helps ensure we're welcomed back and continues to build a positive reputation for our community throughout the state.
Hosts Set the Tone
Every event is a little different, and hosts are encouraged to establish expectations that fit the style of their event, provided those expectations remain consistent with these community guidelines.
If an issue arises during an event, the host should make a reasonable effort to address it first. Most situations can be resolved through a respectful conversation. If the issue cannot be resolved, or if it involves a serious concern, it should be documented and brought to the moderation team so it can be reviewed and handled appropriately.
Our Goal
These guidelines aren't intended to create a long list of rules. They're here to establish a shared understanding of the kind of community we're building together.
We want people to know that if they attend an event promoted through our community, they'll find a welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable environment where they can meet new people, reconnect with friends, and simply have a good time. Every host plays a part in building that reputation, and we're grateful for the time and effort they invest in making these events possible.
